A nice route that tours the hills and the river bottoms of New Hope Creek.
A few sections of loose cobbles.
Start on the Concrete Bridge Road
for a short while until you see a sign for Gate 25 to 26 connector. Continue on until you see the Rhodo Bluff Trail sign. Take this until you get to the next intersection and follow the sign for the High and Dry Trail. You'll next come on an the NHC (New Hope Creek) South and the Laurel Hill Trail
. Take the NHC South Trail to the right.
After 1.6 miles, you'll see a large hill with some rocky faces to your left. Cross the creek where you can (it's hard with higher water) and go right on the trail New Hope Creek North
At about 1.7 miles you'll make a small creek crossing. If you are finding it hard to cross, continue upstream further and there's usually a good spot to cross.
Continue along the creek until your at about 2.5 miles and you'll see Mrs. Brown's Connector
to the left. Make a quick ascent and soon you turn left on Mrs. Brown's Trail
At around 3 miles you reconnect with New Hope Creek North
At about 3.5 miles look right for a trail that heads uphill and back. This leads to the summit of Piney Mountain. Hit the summit and stay left heading back down hill eventually reconnecting with the New Hope Creek North
Follow along the trail passing the Concrete Bridge Road
bridge where you'll take a right. Head uphill on Concrete Bridge Road
until you see Big Bend Trail
to your left. Big Bend Trail
eventually turns from a fire road to a footpath as it descends, meeting up with New Hope Creek North
. Go left here and finally reconnect Concrete Bridge Road
where you turn right and climb uphill to where you began.
